The UK Mountainboard Championships
SwitchBack returns to Bugsboarding Mountainboard Centre on 1st/2nd August 2026.
The event showcases the best mountainboarders in the UK and beyond, while giving new riders their first taste of competing!
SwitchBack is not only a competition, it is a gathering of riders from home and abroad to come together in celebration of extreme sports and outdoor activities, for beginners, veterans and spectators alike.
The Disciplines
At SwitchBack riders compete across three fields in order to be crowned UK Champion:
- Boardercross – 4 person racing down a chicaned track made up of berms, rollers and jumps.
- Downhill – Timed, solo runs down a technical course.
- Freestyle -Tricks and big air on the UK’s biggest mountainboard jumps, rails, and drops.
The best riders across all three disciplines will get an overall score for the whole weekend, with some incredible prizes up for grabs!
Rider Categories & Entry Fees
Anyone can enter SwitchBack provided you are a capable boarder. Riders enter the category that suits them best, such as Juniors, Ladies, Masters or Open. The top four riders in each discipline are crowned ‘Pros‘.
There is a small fee for entering (price TBC), which goes towards the running of the competition.
Special Bugsboarding camping rates apply for those staying overnight. At just £30 for up to four days you may bring your family and friends to cheer riders on as spectating is completely FREE.
The Revelry
Yes, SwitchBack is about the competition, but its also about the community.
Friday night is time for the legendary ATBoarders Quick Pickle Jam. Riders go all-in down at the quarter pipe for a winner-takes-all prize pool. With music, spot prizes, laughs, NBDs, showboating and occasional pickle juice all over the place – its a must see spectacle in the mountainboarding calendar.
Saturday night at SwitchBack is party time! Featuring an on-site food vendor, live music and DJs (line-up TBC!).
It’s the social event of the year, and always a great place to see old faces and make new friendships.
All is good for those wanting decent rest – there’s a family camping zone and a music curfew – as we still need to run Freestyle on the Sunday!
